Chasing 179 to win, Bangladesh lost Nazmul Shanto early but Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal put on a 50-run partnership to put the visitors in control. Iqbal departed for a well-made 34 but Das continued his charge, scoring a fine fifty.
However, a freakish passage of play saw the visitors lose three wickets for 20 runs in less than 10 overs as West Indies clawed their way back into the game. Motie struck four wickets, while Nicholas Pooran also chipped in to have Bangladesh needing 30 more with four wickets in hand.
Fortunately, Mehidy Hasan and Nurul Hasan kept their nerve and saw the team over the line to seal a four-wicket win. Having lost the T20I series, Tamim Iqbal and Co bounced back in style to seal a 3-0 whitewash. Pooran’s start to life as West Indies captain continues to be horrendous, with the Men in Maroon having succumbed to a 3-0 defeat in Pakistan as well.
Earlier, West Indies were put into bat and their struggles continued with the hosts stabbed to 15/3. Captain Nicholas Pooran and Keacy Carty resurrected the innings with a 68-run stand before the latter was dismissed by Nasum Ahmed. Rovman Powell showed promise but the burly hitter was also dismissed cheaply.
Wickets then fell like a pack of cards even as Pooran reached his half-century. The left-hander eventually managed 73 before being cleaned up by Taijul Islam. Romaria Shepherd launched a couple of hits late but West Indies could only manage 178 on the board. Islam ended up with his maiden fifer, recording figures of 5/28 in his 10 overs.
