SL vs AUS: Sri Lanka’s Praveen Jayawickrama gets Covid ahead of 2nd Australia Test

SL vs AUS: Prior to the second Test against Australia, Sri Lankan spinner Praveen Jayawickrama tested positive for Covid-19, the cricket governing body of the island nation announced on Monday.

After Angelo Mathews, left-arm spinner Jayawickrama became the second Sri Lankan player to contract the illness. He was not selected for the opening match, which the hosts lost in Galle in three days.

“The player found to be Covid positive when he tested (Rapid Antigen Test) this morning, as he complained of feeling unwell,” Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement.

“Jayawickrama immediately isolated from the rest of the team members. And also now will remain in room isolation for five days.”

After Mathews ruled out of the first Test on the third morning. The team quickly left for Australia, with touring spinner Nathan Lyon taking nine wickets.

The other members of the Sri Lankan team have produced disappointing performances. And also the hosts are hoping to tie the series in the decisive game beginning on Friday.
