PVL 2023: Defending champions Kolkata Thunderbolts will begin their Prime Volleyball 2023 campaign on Saturday, 4th February 2023. The team led by Ashwal Rai will face a new-look Bengaluru Torpedoes in the first match of the season. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 PM. Kolkata Thunderbolts are eager to kickstart their season on a positive note. The defending champions have roped in a new coach in Narayan Alva and hope to carry over their form from the last season. Ashwal Rai is set to continue as the skipper of the side. The captain too is confident of his team’s chances this year. “There is no pressure of the defending champions tag,” he said ahead of the season.
Bengaluru Torpedoes meanwhile seeks a turnaround of fortunes this year. In the last edition, they failed to progress to the semifinals. A new-look team this year is eyeing for glory. Attacker Pankaj Sharma will continue to lead the franchise. They have however roped in David Lee as their head coach. Lee featured in the last edition as a player.
Playing in front of the home crowd will be an added advantage for the Bengaluru side. The hosts are eyeing to start the season with the victory as they gear up for the challenge against the defending champions.
