Pakistan Tour of Netherlands: On 16, 18 and 21 August 2022, the Netherlands will play three World Cup qualifying matches (One Day Internationals) against Babar Azam-led Pakistan at VOC’s cricket ground in Rotterdam. The selection committee has announced its squad for the matches. Notable names in the selection are Wesley Barresi (HBS), who returns, and 20-year old newcomer Arnav Jain (VOC).

Barresi (38) made his debut for the Netherlands in 2010 and played his last game in 2019. In 32 ODIs he made 927 runs (avg. 35.65) and in 42 T20Is another 799 (22.82). He can keep wicket and also bowls offspin.

Arnav Jain (20) is an offspinner / batsman. He previously played for the Netherlands U19 and impressed during the recent T20 final day. He bowled 2-15 in the final and made 40 runs off 22 balls.

Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Naseem Shah are just a few of the fast-bowling options in a potent Pakistan team that will be captained by Babar Azam.

As the towering bowler recovers from the knee injury that forced him to miss the second Test against Sri Lanka and with the Asia Cup approaching later this month, Babar has suggested that Afridi might used sparingly during the ODI series.

“We’re looking long term at his fitness and health,” Babar said recently of Afridi.

“We want him to play a game against Netherlands if he fit and also be ready for the Asia Cup.”
