- Stefanos Tsitsipas is looking to get back to form this year after fourth round exit at French Open.
- He also started the grass court season with quarterfinal exit at Suttgart and second round defeat at Halle Open.
- He has started the Mallorca Open with a dominant performance against Ivashka in the second round and will look to find his feet on grass ahead of Wimbledon.
- He won his maiden title this year by winning the Barcelona Open title after defeating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in straight sets in the final
- He also finished as runner-up at Italian Open after losing against Novak Djokovic in the final.
- Meanwhile, Marcos Giron began his grass court season with two consecutive first round defeats at Stuttgart Open and Halle Open.
- He was also pushed till the third set by sixth seed Botic van de Zandschulp in the first round at Mallorca but he clinched an upset victory.
- In the second round too, he won againt MacKenzie McDonald in three sets to set up clash with Tsitsipas.
- His best performance this year is a semifinal appearance at Dallas Open earlier this year. He also reached the quarterfinal at Mexican Open.
- He had a very poor clay court season as he managed to win just two matches out of nine games played this season.
Tsitsipas vs Giron Head-to-Head: Both the players will be facing each other for the second time in their careers. They last met five years ago at Chengdu Challenger qualifier with Tsitsipas winning the match in straight sets. This will be the first time, they will face each other in a main round at the ATP Tour. Tsitsipas enters the match as the overwhelming favourite.
