India is already the No. 1 ranked in the shortest format of the game. The Men in Blue then went on to wrap the top spot in the 50-over format with a series win against NZ. A convincing 3-0 clean sweep against NewZealand was enough to make Rohit Sharma the top-ranked team in ODIs. However, now the attention turns to the longer format of the game.

On the other hand, Australia has sealed its spot in the finals of the WTC. India beating Australia will help Rohit Sharma and Co to become the second finalists of the WTC.
“Honestly we don’t talk much about rankings. We discuss mainly about doing the right things on the field. Australia is a quality team and things won’t be easy for us but I am pretty sure we will be up for it in Border Gavaskar Trophy,” said Rohit Sharma after India became the top team in ODIs.
Australia is currently No.1 but faces a tough challenge in the upcoming series. Defeating mighty India at their backend will be a tough job for the Australian side. Recently, India went to Bangladesh and comprehensively outclassed the hosts 2-0 to rise up to the second spot in the Test rankings.
