I will definitely be around in IPL 2023, confirms AB de Villiers

Former South Africa great and Royal Challengers Bangalore Hall of Famer, has declared that he will return to the franchise for the 2019 Indian Premier League season.

De Villiers, who retired from all forms of cricket a few months ago and will not play in the IPL 2022 Eliminator match on Wednesday, said he is unsure in what capacity he will return.

“I will definitely be around the IPL next year. And also I would love to return to my second hometown,” de Villiers told VUSport.

“I will be around RCB next year, I am missing it, don’t know in which capacity but I would like to visit my second home which is Chinnaswamy stadium. Also I am looking forward to it,” said de Villiers, who was included in RCB Hall of Fame a few days back along with West Indies’ Chris Gayle.

De Villiers, who has 9,577 runs in 228 One-Day International matches. And is the first South African hitter to make a double century in Tests. When he made 217 against India in April 2008, widely regarded as one of the best white-ball cricketers of all time.

De Villiers, one of the most destructive batters in ODIs, set records for the fastest fifty. And also century by a batsman, respectively, off 16 and 31 balls, in January 2018.

With 5,162 runs from 170 innings at an average of 38.70 and a strike rate of 151.68. He ranks sixth on the list of players also with the most runs scored in IPL history.
