The Indian pair started the tournament by defeating Popov Brothers from France with a come-from-behind 19-21, 21-9, 21-13 victory. They then sailed past Malaysia’s Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun in straight sets to enter the quarterfinal. The Indian duo bowed out from teh Denmark Open last week and now eye a better show at France. But they will face a tough challenge from Japan’s top seeded Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi.
Meanwhile,Hoki-Tobayashi pair are yet to drop a game in the tournament so far. They started off with a 21-14, 23-21 victory over South Korea’s Kang Mun-hyuk and Seo-Seung-jae. In the second round, they faced Scotland’s Alexander Dunn and Adam Hall 21-12, 21-16 to enter the quarterfinal. They have made a good comeback in the tournament after a first round defeat at the Denmark Open last week. They won the Thailand Open and Malaysian Open titles this year.
Both the pairs will meet for the second time in the BWF Tour. Their previous meeting came this year at the Malaysia Open with the Indian pair winning the first round in straight games. They yet again enter the contest as the favourite.
