India’s men’s doubles pair are the seventh seed in the tournament and they entered the quarterfinals after defeating Indonesia’s Muhammad Fikri and Bagas Maulana 21-14, 21-16. They are yet to drop a set so far as in the first round they clinched a 21-15, 21-19 victory over Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-jae. Meanwhile, the Malaysian pair are the fourth seed and they defeated Ronan Labar and Lucas Corvee in straight sets in the second round they are also yet to lose a single set and set up the blockbuster clash against the Indian duo.
The Indians are yet to defeat the Malaysian pair and will yet again face a tough challenge. Both the pairs have faced each other six times so far with the Malaysians enjoying a 6-0 head-to-head record. They last met at the World Championships this year and the Indian pair lost the match 22-20, 18-21, 16-21.
Lakshya Sen vs Kodai Naraoka
Lakshya Sen defeated compatriot HS Prannoy 21-9, 21-18 in the second round to advance to the quarterfinals where he has set up clash with Japan’s Kodai Naraoka. Sen is in good form at the as in the first round he faced sixth seed Anthony Ginting but emerged victorious in straight sets. The World No.8 is looking to enter his first semifinal since the All England Championship earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Kodai Naraoka defeated Lu Guangzu in straight games in the second round to enter the quarterfinal. Like Lakshya, Naraoka is also yet to drop a game in the tournament so far. Both the players will be facing each other for the fourth time in their career. Naraoka has a 2-1 head-to-head record against the Indian. They last met at the Youth Olympic Games four years ago in 2018 with Lakshya Sen winning the contest in three games.
