CWG 2022: Renuka Singh’s four-wicket haul guides India to win over Barbados by 100 runs to enter semis
CWG 2022: India defeated Barbados by 100 runs on Wednesday to advance to the semi-finals of the current Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham thanks to Renuka Singh‘s four-wicket haul.
Renuka took four wickets for India, while Harmanpreet Kaur, Radha Yadav, and Sneh Rana each took one. Kyshona Knight led Barbados in scoring. Renuka Singh gave his team a significant breakthrough in the opening over of the innings while defending a total of 162, by dismissing Deandra Dottin with no runs yet scored. Renuka gave his team another victory in the third over of the innings when she returned captain Hayley Matthews to the pavilion after she had scored nine runs in seven deliveries.

Kycia Knight, who had scored three runs, returned to the pavilion as Renuka, who was in excellent form, took another wicket. The excellent Indian bowler Renuka dealt Barbados another blow when she dismissed Aaliyah Alleyne and completely dominated the opposition by forbidding them to play big shots, toppling Barbados at 20/4.
The top order was severely destroyed by Renuka’s four-wicket performance during the powerplay. The batters for Barbados failed to score ten runs. And they all returned to the hut, leaving their team far from the victory. After losing eight wickets in their 20 overs, Barbados’ batters only managed to score 62 runs.
Before Shafali Verma’s 43 runs off 26 balls, India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana. And captain Harmanpreet Kaur were unable to significantly affect the score. But Verma’s performance helped India steady the innings in the first 10 overs. After that, Jemimah Rodrigues took over and quickly reached 50. While Deepti Sharma’s helpful cameo enabled India to score 162 points.
