His medal is India’s first from parasports. Murali Sreeshankar in the final event of Day7 clinched a historic silver medal for India in the men’s long jump. Sreeshankar’s effort is India’s first medal in men’s long jump at the Commonwealth Games. Earlier, Amit Panghal, Rohit Tokas, Jaismine Lamboria and Sagar Ahlawat confirmed medals for India. Hima Das also made it to the semi-finals of the Women’s 200m. Harmanpreet Singh scored a hat-trick as India made it to the semis of the Men’s Hockey. Indian Badminton and Table Tennis players began their individual campaigns in Birmingham on Day 7. India’s quarter of Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth and Aakarshi Kashyap all made it though. Table tennis also had a good outing with Manika Batra and Co. progressing into the round of 16. In Para Table tennis, Bhavinabai Patel and Raj Alagar have put themselves in medal contention having made the semis.
