- Medvedev has been in a good touch much recently having won the Los Cabos Open title on hard courts just few weeks ago.
- With the victory he finally managed to end his run of defeats in the final this year. He started the year by finishing as runner-up at Australian Open and he lost in the final at Libema Open and Halle Open too earlier this year.
- He entered the Cincinnati Masters after going down in the first set against Nick Kyrgios in the first round of the Canadian Open.
- The top seed at Cincinnati received a bye from the first round. He defeated Botic van de Zandschulp, Denis Shapovav and Taylor Fritz in straight sets so far in the tournament.

- Fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas is aiming to reach his fifth final this season and is eyeing his third title.
- Tsitsipas has won the Monte Carlo Masters and Mallorca Open title this year while finishing as runner-up at ATP Rotterdam and Italian Open.
- He received a bye from the first round at the Cincinnati Masters and faced Filip Krajinovic in the first round. He won the contest in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
- In the third round he was up against 13th seed Diego Schwartzman and won the match 6-3, 6-3.
- In the quarterfinal, he was up against John Isner and clinched a hard-fought victory. He won the first set in a tie-breaker but lost the second set and came back to win the decider.
Daniil Medvedev vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Head-to-Head: The upcoming contest will be the 10th time both the players will be facing each other. Medvedev leads the head-to-head record 7-2. They met earlier this year at the semifinal of Australian Open with Medvedev winning the contest in four sets.
