Asia Mixed Team Badminton: After dominating in their first two group games, India face a big challenge against Malaysia in the Asia Mixed Team Badminton Championships. The team led by PV Sindhu won both their contest against Kazakhstan and UAE 5-0. Malaysia too had a similar result against both the teams. Asia Mixed Team Badminton 2023
India rested PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy in their previous match against UAE. Both the players are likely to feature in the all important clash against Malaysia.
HS Prannoy vs Lee Zii Jia LIVE
In the Men’s Singles, Lee Zii Jia is likely to face Prannoy. The World No.4 Jia featured in the match against UAE, where he clinched a 21-15, 21-12 victory. Prannoy too started his campaign in the tournament with a 21-9, 21-11 win against Dmitriy Pannarin.
Both the players were rested from their team’s respective second round contest. It will be the second time both the players will face each other. Lee Zii Jia leads the head-to-head record 1-0.
Sindhu vs Goh Jin Wei
PV Sindhu clinched a comfortable 21-4, 21-12 win against Kamila Smagulova in her first match in the tournament against Kazakhstan. She then missed the contest against UAE. The World No.8 is likely to face Goh Jin Wei against Malaysia.
Sindhu has a 4-0 head-to-head record against the Malaysian. They last met at the Commonwealth Games and Sindhu won the contest in three games. The Indian yet again enters the contest as the favourite.
In the Men’s doubles, India will face a challenge against World No.2 Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik. India is likely to play with Chirag Shetty and Dhruv Kapila.
Meanwhile in the Women’s Doubles, Gayatri Goipichand and Gayatri Gopichand will face a challenge from Thinaah Muralitharan and Pearly Tan. In the Mixed Doubles too Malaysia enters as the favourite against Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing.
