Australia’s men’s white-ball captain Aaron Finch said Tim David’s ability to hit from ball one, is a relatively rare skill in the sport.

The 26-year-old Australian was recently a member of the Mumbai Indians club in the Indian Premier League’s fifteenth edition. In eight matches, he scored 186 runs at a strike rate of 216.28. He is now playing in the T20 blast cricket league for the Lancashire cricket club, where he has opened the season with knocks of 35 (18) and 60. (25).

“He’s been in fantastic form for a while now, the back end of the IPL was fantastic for him, it was at his brutal best,” Cricket.com.au quoted Finch saying.

“The ability to hit from ball one is a pretty rare skill and he’s done that plenty of times now. For him to keep being so consistent that’s something that we’ll definitely look at over the next little while,” he added.

Following the T20 Blast, David will play for the Southern Brave in the Hundred Ball competition in England, which runs from August 4 to September 4.

After losing their first two games by a combined score of 12-1, Mumbai cut David. David recalled after Mumbai went winless in their first eight games. And finishing the tournament with 186 runs at 37 from eight matches. As his team won four of their final six games.

David’s tournament strike rate of 216 was the highest of any batsman who faced more than 50 balls in a single IPL season.

Tim David has also received support from Australia’s T20 wicketkeeper Mathew Wade. He stated that he will undoubtedly play for the Australian team and that he has the ability to be anything.

“He’s got as much power as any player in the world. And I was really happy for the way he finished the (IPL) tournament,” Wade said to cricket.com.au.

“He kind of disappeared out of the team after two games. That was a bit of a mystery and then found his way back in,” he added.

“Whether it’s this World Cup or the next one, he’s still got plenty of time. He’s going to play some cricket for Australia, there’s no doubt about that,” Wade said of David.

Following the Sri Lankan tour, Australia will play a two-match series against the West Indies on the Gold Coast in early October. Followed by a three-match series against England at the Gabba and Canberra. Before Finch’s side begins its World Cup defence on October 22 at the SCG.

In September, a three-match T20 series in India planned, but the dates have yet to finalised.
